Browser-based GraphPad Prism® alternative

Modern Prism 10 projects
Use Plotwright's browser importer for a modern
.prism project. Choose
File → Import…
— not “Open project,” which is reserved for Plotwright
.oprism files — then review the migration summary
before relying on any converted analysis or graph.
Work from a copy. Plotwright reads the selected project and
never modifies the source .prism file.
Open Plotwright, choose File → Import… and
select the modern .prism project from your device.
Inspect the preserved, approximated and unsupported objects, then rerun one trusted analysis and compare its editable graph.
Format boundary: modern Prism 10 .prism projects use
the full migration route. .pzfx follows a data-first
XML route; a legacy binary .pzf file must first be
saved as .pzfx or .prism in GraphPad
Prism. If you only need read-only access, GraphPad also documents a
free Viewer Mode. Neither Plotwright import route promises exact round-trip
reproduction.
Migration proof
No sales demo and no rebuilt sample. Use a project whose analyses and figures you already trust, then inspect Plotwright's migration report object by object.
Import a modern .prism project for the richest
migration path, or bring structured tables from
.pzfx, Excel, CSV or TSV.
Plotwright inventories preserved, approximated and unsupported objects instead of silently pretending every detail transferred.
Re-run a known analysis, inspect the editable graph and export it before moving any production workflow.

.prism when graph fidelity mattersOptional AI assistant
Ask Plotwright to run an analysis on the project data you select and create a graph. The assistant calls the same numerical engine as the interface, then materializes real Results and Graph sheets for review.
Connect your own OpenAI API key. It is stored in your browser, used only when you invoke the assistant, and never saved in the project. Current scope creates analyses and graphs; it does not yet edit an existing graph by chat. OpenAI usage charges may apply.
Cost comparison
Price is the opening, not the proof. Validate your own analyses before deciding.

Licensing disruption is already forcing institutional reviews. The University of Queensland publicly reported a proposed annual increase from A$220,000 to A$2.5 million.

Student and zero-budget options
Plotwright is not free. Its full trial lasts 14 days without a card, then individual plans cost $5 per month or $48 per year. If your budget must stay at zero, use a genuinely free tool rather than an unauthorized copy.
Budget must remain $0

Plotwright is a paid product after the trial. GraphPad currently publishes personal prices of $142 per year for students and $260 per year for academics; product scope, support and eligibility differ. Check current Prism pricing.
An honest comparison
Plotwright is an alternative for particular research workflows, not a claim of complete feature or file-format parity. Test the project you actually depend on.
Evaluate Plotwright when

Keep Prism in the workflow when
Plotwright never modifies the source .prism file.
Imported graphs and layouts may be approximated; the migration
report identifies preserved and approximated objects, plus objects
that need manual recreation.
